A Perfect Weekend near Occidental

Relax with a family-style Italian dinner and dessert at world famous Negri's restaurant located in the center of Occidental. 

After dinner, step into the cocktail lounge where local bands serve up rock, country and blues tunes. The crowd is eclectic and always ready for a good time, with dancing till midnight.


Saturday: Start with the best breakfast in the land at Howard's Station, just across the street from the Occidental Hotel. A full service café with a juice bar, and scrumptious baked goods, Howard's Station is a perfect way to start your Sonoma County day.

There are wineries located throughout the valley, but the greatest concentration is along and around River Road, approximately 20 minutes northeast of Occidental. If you are near Korbel Champagne Cellars around lunch time, their gourmet deli is worth a visit. In an afternoon, expect to visit four to six wineries at a leisurely pace.

Just five minutes from the Occidental Hotel is Osmosis Enzyme Bath and Massage, a wonderful refuge for tranquility and renewal. Relax blissfully in a warm enzyme bath, followed by a 30 minute blanket wrap or a superb massage.

After a day of wine tasting and relaxation, nothing is more satisfying than a Family Style Italian Dinner at Negri's "Original Occidental" Restaurant. The minestrone soup, ravioli, and apple fritters are legendary, as are the portion sizes. After dinner, settle in your Occidental Hotel guest room or get ready for another night of music and dancing at Negri's, or enjoy the more laid-back atmosphere at the nearby local cafés.


Sunday: California coast near Occidental HotelHead to the coast. From Occidental, take a 30 minute drive along Coleman Valley Road, recently voted "Best Scenic Drive" in Sonoma County by local residents, to Highway 1 and the Pacific Coast. Once you reach Highway 1, head south along the coastline, taking time to enjoy the many public beaches and breathtaking vistas.

For lunch, continue south to Bodega Bay for seafood on the pier at The Tides or Lucas Wharf, or try the award-winning cuisine at The Duck Club Restaurant at the Bodega Bay Lodge.

After lunch, stroll the unique shops in and around Bodega Bay or visit Chanslor Ranch for a horseback ride along the beach (reservations required).

You may also want to take a short drive around the Bay to Bodega Head for beautiful ocean views. Stay along the coast for a beautiful sunset, before heading back home refreshed and relaxed after spending a Perfect Weekend at Negri's Occidental Hotel.
